HIV/AIDS Awareness Generation Events

Still People Living with HIV AIDS face many hurdles in the state due to social stigma and discrimination, which drives the HIV positive underground. Certain steps have been taken by the organization in its working areas to reduce the acute social problems such as organizing regular awareness generation programme through interactive sessions with experts, distribution of material and condoms among general public, providing training on the issues, organizing group discussion, family counseling etc. Moreover the following services are offered for HIV positive people, those are counseling, rescue & protection through local support groups, referral for free and worthwhile treatment services through networking with several government funded institutions in collaboration with Department of Health & Family Welfare, Avorde is running the targeted Intervention program for prevention of STI/HIV and AIDS in Rudrapur, Dineshpur and Kichha among the high risk populations as Female Sex Workers and Men have sex with Men. This is third year of the program. The program is funded by the Uttarakhand State AIDS Control Society under Ministry of Medical Health and Family Welfare, Government of Uttarakhand. The performance of the TI program is better than last year. As all targeted HRG have been registered and receiving project services as per the NACO guideline.
